This is what the NYT had to say about the developing story:

So what is wrong with this report? Almost everything!
Here is how the NYT is making this story look like Israel is the bad guy by telling you lies and half-truths, and showing unrelated pictures of the events.
- Their story begins with “Israeli Police raided the Aqsa Mosque” . Looking at the picture you would think that the golden domed building is El Aqsa. This is actually the Dome of the Rock which is also on Temple Mount. The El Aqsa mosque is the building on the far side, but hey, who cares? However, something is missing. That’s right. We do not see the rioting mob here. It looks like the Israeli police is chasing a lone Palestinian with a barrage of tear gas grenades… So here are the pictures that show what really went on there:

This is just after the end of prayers. The green flags are the Hamas flags.

And this is at night, when the riots began. You don’t see any police or tear gas in the top pictures, because there were none. It’s when the riots began at night that the police intervened, were attacked with rocks and fire bombs, and reacted with tear gas. No one was shot, in spite of the fact that two dozen police officers were injured.
2. “In response, Hamas militants fired rockets at Jerusalem that caused no injuries.”
Now, they make you think that Hamas is “responding” to the police raid that never happened. “Militants” ? Hamas has been named a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union. What really happened is that they fired over 1000 rockets into cities and towns all over Israel, in a pre-planned coordinated attack. Because Israel had developed a defense for just such an attack, the Iron Dome anti rocket system, “only” 5 people were killed thus far. So, again, a bunch of lies by the NYT.
3. “The Israeli military retaliated with airstrikes that killed at least 23 people, including nine children, Palestinian officials said.”
How quickly does the NYT rush to quote from “Palestinian Officials”. No names, no corroboration of this false information. A declared terrorist organization, well known to be lying to the world for years, is the sole source of this statement by the NYT.
The bottom line:
At the end of Ramadan, the Moslems holy month, tens of thousands have congregated on the Temple Mount, shouting and waving Hamas flags, blaming Israel for trying to destroy Al Aqsa, a lie akin to the Anti-Semitic blood libels in the middle ages Europe, and then rioting in the streets of Jerusalem. When the police tried to disperse the rioters, they were attacked with rocks and firebombs, the riots spread throughout Israel, and the Hamas in Gaza joined in with a massive rocket attack. What happens next is what every democracy in the world would do, when rioters spread mayhem on the inside, and terrorists attack from the outside. And the New York Times? well, draw your own conclusions…
